Disability and Forced Sterlization
The history of the eugenics movement and how it led to forced sterilizations for the "feeble minded" in the United States is reviewed. The case of three generations of a family are described, including how their situation led to the 1927 U.S. Supreme Court decision, known as Buck v. Bell. In that decision, Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. wrote that "Three generations of imbeciles are enough."
