Social Identity Paper
The goal of this paper is for students to apply Social Identity Theory (SIT) to their own lives. To begin, students choose an identity that is central to their self-concept, such as "White male" or "Latina female." Students then find a person with a different social identity and interview her/him. This paper is, in part, a personal story and, in part, an analysis based on the social science literature. That is, students compare and contrast their experiences with those of another person who is different from them in an important way and then link these experiences to SIT.
