Prejudice and Discrimination in the News
Students describe an event that is an example of prejudice and discrimination in the media. It can be prejudice against a specific person or group or can be based on a person's actions or statements. Students can use a movie clip or You Tube video to illustrate their example, but their example cannot be based solely on a movie or other fictional episode. It also cannot be based on a documentary that was produced to show prejudice and discrimination. That is, the topic of the presentation needs to be something the student found and recognized as stereotyping, prejudice, or discrimination. Students discuss how the psychological literature on prejudice and discrimination can be used to explain this event.
