This video clip shows several comedians talking about ageism in Hollywood and how it has affected them personally. The women talk about their desire to play well-written, fleshed out ingénue roles and they are instead offered "hag next door," mother, or grandmother roles that are not as interesting or well-written. Amy Poehler admits that she was only eight years older than Rachel McAdams when she played her mother in Mean Girls and that she was offered a role playing the mother of Jonah Hill, who she is barely twelve years older than. Christina Applegate says that she has been refused magazine covers because she is over 35; for many magazines that is the cutoff age for cover models.
