Metabo Law (Sizeism)

This is a CNN news clip that described a new law established by the Japanese government. The law states that the men and women of Japan are required to stay within a healthy size range or the companies they work for will face fines for the companies. The Japanese government argues that with the onset of American fast food chains in demand, the typical Japanese person has gained more weight and that health issues revolved around weight will cause the costs of health insurance for their employees to balloon as well. The largest acceptable waist size for men is thirty-three and a half inches, and the largest acceptable waist size for women is thirty-five and a half inches.
