Public Service Announcements
Each of our public service announcements address an issue related to our mission: breaking the prejudice habit.
Breaking Stereotypes
This public service announcement features a diverse group of individuals who are speaking out against commonly held stereotypes. The camera pans across their faces as they express assumptions about their race, gender, orientation or religion, and how they do not identify with those assumptions.
Ms. Clean
This video is parody of the widely known Mr. Clean commercials but with non-traditional gender roles. We noticed the typical patriarchal nature of the original commercials that normally feature women doing all the cleaning. In our version, gender roles are reversed, calling to attention the gender stereotypes present in many commercials.
Loving Couple
The relationship of a loving couple is documented. While a voice over explains their story, the camera watches as they playfully interact, cuddle with another, and hold hands. The identities of the partners remain hidden until the end of the video.
A Call to Action
This public service announcement is a compilation of video recordings from a diverse group of people. In these "video diaries," participants share their personal experiences with prejudice and offer suggestions for bringing about change. The diaries offer a glimpse into the experiences that may not be a part of our social world.
Privilege
This video discusses privilege, which refers to the unearned special entitlement, or advantage, possessed by certain groups or individuals. It is important to remember that, for those who have an advantage, privilege may not seem like an important issue. However, it puts members of other groups at a disadvantage. Understanding privilege is key to empathizing with the experiences of those group members.
