Why I am an AHA Advocate: 

I am an AHA Advocate because a lot of people are still ignorant to the fact that people are mistreated and denied opportunities all the time because they belong to a certain group. Responding with defensiveness and denial only makes the problem worse, but that is the reaction I have been encountering a lot lately when people with privilege have been confronted with issues of prejudice and discrimination. I want to be part of the solution by fostering awareness and understanding so that real change can happen.

Fun fact: 

I am pretty good at playing the cello.
